2017 - 2018 Projects
RYAN KASTNER GROUP
Working on using data from underwater sensing systems to classify direct and reflected waves from underwater creatures like shrimp for the purpose of localization and estimation of ocean depth.
Students: Isaac Castillo, Caitlyn Liu, Jiayue Sun, Bilguun Bulgan
Mentor: Prof. Ryan Kastner, Perry Naughton
GEORGE POTTER AND GEOFF VOLKER GROUP
Testing the user-friendliness and efficiency of an existing video processing pipeline for deep learning applications, by developing two such applications using deep learning for object detection and optical character recognition, using the pipeline.
Students: Adrian Mendoza, Zheng Hao Tang, Elizabeth Guerrero, Elizabeth Farkas
Mentor: Prof. George Porter, Prof. Geoff Voelker, Shelby Thomas
TAJANA ROSING GROUP
Working on achieving competitively high accuracies and high efficiency across different datasets in order to establish hyperdimensional (HD) computing as a strong machine learning algorithm.
Students: Joyaan Bhesania, Robert Koepp, Val Gonzalez, Helen Shu
Mentor: Prof. Tajana Rosing, Mohsen Imani
DEBAHASIS SAHOO GROUP
Working on collecting more cancer metastasis data for analysis, building a cancer specific database, and creating a user friendly website to visualize and analyze the data using MiDReG and other analytical tools such as the Gene Expression Commons, which can be used for gene expression profiling.
Students: Shanfeng Fang, Tina Chen, Wenyi Wang
Mentor: Prof. Debashis Sahoo
